Here at AAMCO we are excited about cars.  We go to the car shows, read car magazines, browse the internet looking for new car information, and our wives have even accused us of bleeding motor oil.  So how excited were we when the battery operated cars that our kids play with got mixed with the cars that we play with during the week?  VERY!

Just as the definition above explains so well today’s hybrid is a mix of technologies that have been in place for a long time.  In some ways hybrids are very similar to the everyday cars we have been working on for years, and in other ways they are completely different.  Any vehicle is a hybrid when it combines two or more sources of power. Hybrid cars run off a rechargeable battery and gasoline.  Hybrid engines are built smaller to accommodate the 99% of time when they are not going up hill or accelerating quickly. They use the battery to provide extra acceleration and power when needed.  When the car is stopped, hybrid gasoline motors can shut off and run off their electric motor and battery.  Hybrid cars are often lighter and more aerodynamic; tires are often stiffer and inflated to higher pressures to reduce drag.  Hybrid cars often recover braking energy and use it to charge the battery.

Hybrid vehicles are much more demanding in having everything technically perfect.  For example different tires or miss inflation can cause up to a 25% change in gas mileage, as where with a straight combustion vehicle you would never see any where near that difference.  The wrong grade motor oil can turn on the check engine light and reduce gas mileage.  Let us DO IT RIGHT for you.  If the dealer is not living up to your expectations of service and value give us a try; you will find us efficient.
